Dia De Los Muertos Masks

A place to focus my recent obsession with the masks of Dia De Los Muertos. Male, Female, Catrinas, Catrins, Sugar Masks, history and modern interpretations, masks in flat art and sculpture, tattoos and fashion.
been a minute since i’ve added to the makeup collection.
i love the wild hair in this and her tattered outfit suits the occasion perfectly!

the color in those eyes is so deep.

the color in those eyes is so deep.

that faraway look in her eyes. searching. seeking. hiding?
keeping secret the truth only the dead know.

absolutely gorgeous! the simplicity of the makeup combines with the extravagance of the hair and flowers to really make those eyes powerful - wow

My Personal Tumblr - Shaky Lens

I’ve always wanted to keep this blog dedicated solely to Dia De Los Muertos and related themes, but I keep finding stuff I’m personally interested in and want to reblog, or just write about or post photos and videos from my myriad of other interests…

without further ado, my personal tumblr

those eyes are sooooo creepy!
this one sort of reminds me of Salvador Dali - the quality of the curves in the lines…

I think this is on two different people, and that is awesome.
they match, and yet each is unique. I really like the single line style of these!

solo los muertos saben la verdad

only the dead know the truth

this is pure awesomeness incarnate and it’s cool to see the progression of the tat with the additional shading and scrolling

i’m in love with the color on this one!
the shading gradations are soooooo smooth and consistent.

technically this is henna, but it’s also technically beautiful.
it looks kind of inspired by Mayan art with the varying thickness in the line weights and the sort of cube-y shapes
i dig it - this should totally get perma-inked.

looks like a baby skull - sort of creepy.
this makes me really think about what Dia De Los Muertos means to me
only the dead know the truth - live life now while you’re blissfully ignorant. i am.
